How do we help families with children feel a sense of connectedness with the community to experience wholeness?
The Mission Innovation Team (MIT) gathered for their first meeting on Thursday the 26th of March. They will be responsible for exploring, refining and experimenting with our Missional Challenge, and how they will go about discovering partners mission. Jo Howie, the MIT facilitator, has informed me that the meeting was really energising and that further details will follow regarding any decisions they make. Please be mindful of them in prayer (regular updates on their experimenting will follow from Jo Howie, the MIT facilitator).
Hospitality is the key to the whole PMC process and one of the six PMC Spiritual Practices that will begin to shape us as a church over the coming years. Others, for example, being Dwelling in the Word (which most of us are familiar with) and Dwelling in the World (more will follow on this).
At last Sunday’s Communion Service, Darren Howie spoke about how we as a fellowship could explore hospitality, to better understand it, and to build on what we already do. This will compliment the work of the MIT. To help us with this, the PMC Steering Team have created some space for wider exploration. We will be hosting some ‘hospitality gatherings’ over the next six months and these will take place once a month on a Sunday afternoon between 4:00 - 5:00 P.M, with the compulsory cake and coffee, of course! There’s a sign-up sheet at the back of the church if you would like to join us. If you fancy baking some cakes that would also be much appreciated, just let Darren Howie know in advance.
We’re aware that everybody may not be able to attend all of the gatherings but please do try to attend as many as possible, so you can get full benefit from the conversations and stories that will emerge. The dates for the first three of these gatherings are:
▸ Sunday 19th April 4:00 - 5:00 P.M.
▸ Sunday 24th May 4:00 - 5:00 P.M.
▸ Sunday 21st June 4:00 - 5:00 P.M.
There’s also a meeting on 12th of April at 2:00 P.M. at 50 Holme Road, with Sam Hustwayte. Sam is doing some research for Southwell and Nottingham Diocese on the PMC process. If you would like to attend and give some input let Darren Howie know as soon as you can.
Please speak to Ruth Holbrook, Jenny Hempstead or Darren Howie if you have any queries, requests, ideas or concerns.
We are still hoping that others might join the MIT and or PMC Steering Team. If you think that this is something you would like to do please let us know.
