All Hallows and St Edmund's came together to welcome Steve (a vicar) and Karen (a curate), both from the northern clergy who were visiting our diocese, as we were led by Mike from Notts Wildlife Trust and introduced to the work that has been done and is still ongoing at the new Skylarks, not to mention some of its wildlife.
We were welcomed back to tea / coffee and cake .... with happy faces and the urge to organise more walks.
Church life is still living, not just ticking over until the future is decided, although it may have seemed like it as we rested over the summer. Harvest Festival is coming up and plans are already afoot for our well loved Christmas services. There will also be a Healing Service as we seek to be grounded in God's love in all the busyness of running the church ourselves.
On the more social side, we will be open as usual on All Hallows' Eve and Christmas Fair is back after a few years' break. Then we'll start looking at our direction for 2020.
Meanwhile, we are not only making plans for ongoing church life, but our PCC along with St Ed's PCC will be meeting Archdeacon Phil Williams in October, to start off the planning for our longer term future.
So we wait to see what God has in store for us; in all the uncertainty, one thing is certain: that whatever it is, he will go with us.
